Circling back to the Fife Mayor Roscoe emails (from the Salary Commission post #3) …in one of them she mentions an email she had staff send out to their council, after she “witnessed some interaction between a councilmember and a freshly appointed commissioner that sounded like lobbying for a raise. Good grief” (LINK)

In Milton, two hours before the August 6, 2020 city council budget retreat, where her salary increase was scheduled to be discussed, Mayor Styron-Sherrell sent all the council members an email lobbying them for her raise. She also sent the email to Chief Hernandez, City Clerk Summers, and Finance Director Robbecke (last page of link). The only people she didn’t send it to were all of us.

And it clearly had an impact on at least some city council members because at the August 17, 2020 council meeting more than one council member referenced not wanting our mayor to “work for free”.

“…I hope you will use your power to do the right thing. In the mean time, I’m left with the feeling that I’m
only acceptable when working for free
.” (excerpt from Mayor Styron-Sherrell, August 6, 2020 letter to council)

Perhaps it’s Milton citizens’ turn to say “good grief“.
