Milton City Council Meeting May 18, 2020

At this meeting Councilmember Morton added a discussion regarding the Mayor’s salary to the agenda.

Meeting Agenda

Below are the recording of just the parts of the meeting involving the salary discussion. They have not been modified. I just thought it would be helpful for those who are interested to be able to hear just the relevant parts of the meeting. If you want to hear the entire meeting, you can find that recording on the City of Milton website.

Recording of salary discussion

The recording below was posted because this email was disclosed in my public records request. In it the Mayor tells the citizen the following about the salary discussion “Also, this will not be an agenda item that can be done via Zoom. It will have to wait until we are able to have meetings back in council chambers and open to the public.”

And you will hear in the recording her stating a similar sentiment. There was never an explanation regarding why her decision changed, and she approved adding her salary discussion to the July 6, 2020 council meeting agenda.

Recording of Mayor Styron-Sherrell discussing Open Public Meetings Act, Covid, and what should be discussed during ZOOM and what should wait until we can meet in person.
